Pam Kelly, a grandmother from Poughkeepsie, New York, wanted to book herself a nice, relaxing massage.

She had a good feeling about a spa called Dreaming Goddess and paid the masseuse $297 for her services.

But this was no ordinary massage.

For 25 years, a “snake priestess” who goes by the name of Serpentessa has treated her clients to full-body massages — complete with six-foot boa constrictors.

Snake massages are increasing in popularity across the states (they’re common in Russia and Thailand) with individuals seeking the treatment for health issues like migraines and fibromyalgia. “They tone and stimulate the vagus nerve in our body that releases endorphins and oxytocin — the feel good hormones,” Serpentessa told CBS.

Though Serpentessa insists none of her clients have ever had issues with the boa constrictors, many doctors say it could be dangerous.
