Jose Mourinho has opened up about where Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be playing next season, claiming Manchester United are frontrunners to re-sign him.
Man United declined to extend Ibrahimovic’s one-year contract this summer
after he suffered a season-ending injury in April.
However, he has been allowed to remain in Manchester to work on his rehabilitation as he hopes to be fit again by January.
Speaking about the situation, Mourinho hinted he could stay at on at Old Trafford.
“Maybe he’ll stay with us,” Mourinho said.
“He has no contract but he is closer to Manchester.”
United are keen on bringing him back as Mourinho has stated on many occasions, however, with Milan also interested, he’ll have a tough decision ahead.
Ibrahimovic played at Milan for two seasons, first on loan from Barcelona before his switched in a deal worth around £19m in 2011, he stayed for one more season before a move to Paris Saint-Germain.
He had been incredible at Old Trafford and had more than surpassed expectations as he scored 25 goals before his season was ended prematurely, he still has it and if there’s anyone to fight back from a career ending injury at the age of 35, it’s Zlatan.
