A minute later a timely block by Chris Smalling prevented Marcelo from making it 2-0.

United should have reduced the deficit but Lukaku blasted his effort over the bar from close range after Navas’ initial save from Pogba’s header.
In the 61st minute, Bale was presented with a big chance to extend Madrid’s lead but he struck his shot against the bar.
Lukaku made it 2-1 in the 62nd minute from close range after Navas spilled Nemanja Matic’s long range strike.
The game was halted in the 77th minute following a head collision between Marouane Fellaini and Ramos with the Belgian ending up with head stitches.
Rashford had a big chance to draw level on 81 minutes after he was played through by Henrik Mkhitaryan but his goal-bound shot was saved by Navas.
